Outlook 2013 only opens when opened with "Run as Administrator" option.

After uninstalling Office 2010 Pro. and installing Office 2013 Pro. Outlook will not launch. The error message is an insightful and thought provoking "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook" which immediately provide a solution!

I have fully patched this version of Outlook, tried disabling all my add-ins, and tried disabling "hardware acceleration mode" to no avail. Our UAC settings are the MS recommend settings for enterprises pushed out via a GPO policy.

I can only start Outlook in "Run as administrator" mode or in safe mode (outlook.exe /safe).

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Please browse the Outlook.exe application from the path:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 15\Outlook.exe

Or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office 15\Outlook.exe

Right click on Outlook.exe (application) -> Go to Properties, under Compatibility tab -> uncheck the compatibility mode -> OK

Launch Outlook again to check if everything is fine. Good Luck.

I also have a variation of this one. Outlook 2013 will only receive emails when run as an administrator. If not run as admin, it will do nothing, no errors, it will check email and then just do nothing.

I have checked the file permissions of the data files, my user has the same rights as the administrator. Must be something else - maybe it is also related to what Joe is experiencing; some access to some component somewhere.

I tried to use the Office Configuration Analyzer tool but that got me nowhere. I just modified the shortcut and made it such that Outlook will launch as Admin under all users.
